HAND OVER COMPLETE, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CUSTOM
When working on a brief that may seem less demanding than others it is important
to not let that determine how you approach the work and to show your product
and the client respect but keeping the methodology and direction the same across
all project scopes.
This means asking yourselves the same questions and starting by breaking down
and realising what could be done the most effective way. We found that by asking
ourselves a range of questions it helped us when formulating a plan of attack. I
especially focused on the questions when beginning as I was essential to me that
I left this project feeling like I had created something admirable by setting a new
standard within the car rental space.
What are the main feature car enthusiast buts also regular driver interested in
knowing
How can we making car renting feel less intimidating
What can we develop within the interface to make the platform stand out
Why are other apps popular and what can we learn from them to add familiarity
to our own design
Shift rentals briefed us with a great project that everyone was so excited to be a part of.
This a project that allows you to really exercise and show off your skills that you have
accumulated along your journey as a designer. It also allows you to be experimental and
explore things that you have discovered.
Shift rental required a platform that allowed users to rent out their own or rent other peoples
vehicles but also be real estate for car enthusiast to find and explore events and other car
experiences. They wanted the cars to set the tone for the experience and wanted the high
ticket bookings to be catered as it is difficult to be able to rent a higher value car without
having many personal contacts. You might find a vehicle you are interested in and it can
be many miles away from you and that can easily increase the cost to the user but up to
80% after all expenses are accounted for so they wanted to centralise this information but
also remove all the uncertainty of location and cost.
Another great feature they wanted us to explore was remote entry and monitoring of the the
vehicle and booking with will be a great opportunity to design and interactive and engaging
interface.
The journey should be savoured. It isn't always about the destination but this
journey took us to somewhere beautiful. This project had a very philosophical
air about if for me as it really highlighted living in the present and enjoying the
moment and that is what we wanted to transfer to the users.
Life imitates art and like a game or a movie, time is everything. For those renting
a luxury car it is for a limited time and you are full of excitement, almost like you
are on a mission and need to complete all of your tasks before your time is over.
We wanted to create a range of interfaces that embodied this which we did in
style. We wanted the pages to feel like from the moment you press book you
are on a clock but usually the time for rentals isn't displayed in a fun interactive
way and you can often get lost at the thought of just adhering to an arranged
time but from selecting the car to managing your booking we wanted the user
to feel in control of their experience effortlessly.
We were intent on making the experience feel as in depth and analytical as
possible within the spectrum of the project and that is what we achieve
throughout.
Overall the client and the team that worked on producing the project were very
pleased with the outcome. The work reflects careful consideration and an
understanding of the clients requests packaged in a sleek and usable design
that has an essence of a magazine with the modern dynamic features to keep a
user constantly discovering and engaging with new features they can fall in love
with.
We understood the brief and were able to deliver a visually please body of work
by using simple yet elevate design techniques creating something that can enter
the market seamless and feel as if it has been there for years. I am especially
happy with the general cohesiveness of the product and the way its also captures
an almost game like experience for the user which was an underlying method of
human nature as rental cars are seen as boys toys. When you get the chance to
experience a car you have wanted to, every element of the process needs to feel
special from beginning to end,
